China announces newly approved food packaging material additives

In accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety Law and the Administrative Licensing Regulations for New Varieties of Food-Related Products, the General Office of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China intends to approve four new food packaging material additives and one new resin material – propylene oxide modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol polymer – after review.

The four new additives are as follows:

– 3,4-Diacetoxy-1-butene (DAB);

– Homopolymers of N-vinylformamide;

– Polymer hydrochloride of N-vinylformamide and vinylamine;

– Titanium nitride.

In addition, the following three types of additives for product packaging materials should have their application scope expanded:

– Cobalt octadecanoate;

– Tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphite;

– Stearic acid.
