European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Public Consultation, Fifth Batch of Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SHC) Substance No. 04/2011

  • 2011-09-01

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is openly consulting on the fifth batch of candidate substances for the list of substances of very high concern.

No. 04/ 2011

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) recently published the fifth batch of proposed substances for the SVHC candidate list on its website. These proposed substances were submitted by Belgium, Denmark, France, and ECHA, as they are considered to pose a potentially serious hazard or impact on human health or the environment. Interested parties can submit comments on these proposed substances by April 7, 2011. These comments will be considered in decisions regarding the inclusion of these proposed substances in the SVHC candidate list, and subsequently, the selection of substances from the candidate list to be authorized substances. Currently, 46 substances are listed in the SVHC candidate list; if the seven newly added substances are included, the SVHC candidate list will increase to 53. The proposal also includes amendments to the list of cobalt dichloride, which is already on the SVHC candidate list.

The table below lists seven proposed substances that may be included in the SVHC candidate list:
