The EU has announced eight new substances authorized under REACH, which will gradually be phased out in 2015.

On February 14, 2012, the European Union announced the addition of eight new authorized substances to Annex 14 of REACH, increasing the REACH authorized list from six to fourteen substances. Manufacturers wishing to continue using these substances after the expiration date must apply for authorization before the expiration date.

The eight newly authorized substances are expected to be phased out within three and a half years. After the expiration date, the substances on the list can only be used in the EU after obtaining authorization.

The eight newly authorized substances and their official repeal dates (Sunset dates) are shown in the table below.
