EU EuP Directive - External Power Supplies Draft Implementation Guidelines (Working document on possible ecodesign requirements for external power supplies)

The European Commission will hold the fourth consultation forum on the EuP Directive on February 22, 2008. During the forum, the Commission will discuss possible implementation methods for eco-friendly design of external power supplies and simple set top boxes, in accordance with Article 18 of the EuP Directive.

The content is a draft of possible implementation methods for external power supplies during this meeting.

The draft implementation methodology includes: definitions, eco-design requirements, conformity assessment, benchmarks, and review.

Eco-friendly design requirements are based on two parts: external power supplies and halogen lighting converters.

(1) External power supplies a. Six months after the implementation method takes effect, the following requirements must be met: 1. Power consumption under no-load conditions must not exceed 0.5 watts. 2. Average active efficiency must not exceed the following standards. Output power PO (watts) Average active efficiency limit (watts) PO 51.0 0.85 PO b. Two years after the implementation method takes effect, the following requirements must be met. 1. Power consumption under no-load conditions shall not exceed the following standards: Output power PO (watts) Power consumption limit (watts) PO < 50.0 0.30 PO ? 50.0 0.50 2. Average active power shall not exceed the following standards: Output power PO (watts) Average active power limit (watts) PO < 1.0 0.50 · PO1.0 ? PO ?36.0 0.08 · ln(PO) + 0.585 PO ? 36.0 0.87 (2) Halogen lighting converters: The following requirements shall be met one year after the implementation method takes effect. 1. Power consumption under no-load conditions shall not exceed 0.5 watts 2. Active power shall not be less than 0.925 – Reference source: Cleaner Production Information Network: http://proj.moeaidb.gov.tw/cpnet/Content.asp?OpClass=21&ContentID=344&WebTitle=2_1 Other related document downloads:
