The U.S. EPA expands its list of safe chemical substances.

The U.S. EPA expands its list of safe chemical substances.

In response to the Design for the Environment (DfE) Safer Product Labeling Program, the U.S. EPA introduced the Safer Chemical Ingredient List. The EPA periodically adds safe chemicals that meet the requirements of this program to this list and encourages industry to use these chemicals that pose lower risks to human and environmental health to replace the addition of hazardous substances.

On July 24, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency added 132 safe chemicals to its list of safe chemicals, including 119 fragrances commonly found in commercial and consumer products.

This list contains 602 chemical substances from September 12, 2012 to the present, and is provided for reference by manufacturers, consumers, and environmental and human safety advocates.

For a detailed list, please refer to the U.S. EPA website: http://www.epa.gov/dfe/saferingredients.htm#collapse
