Latest 2023 EU Audit Actions – Perfluorinated Carboxylic Acids (PFCAs) and Related Substances

On March 23, 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced its latest enforcement actions for this year on its official website, which are expected to target perfluorinated carboxylic acids regulated by EU REACH and EU POPs regulations.

On March 23, 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced its latest enforcement actions for the year on its website. The ECHA Enforcement Forum agreed to conduct an audit program to assess the conformity of perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and related substances under the EU REACH and EU POPs regulations, covering all consumer products. The audits will begin between 2023 and 2024.

The audit program will be jointly carried out by the ECHA Enforcement Forum and 12 EU member states. If any violations are found in the products, immediate enforcement action will be taken to ensure compliance with EU REACH and EU POPs regulations. The audit results report is expected to be published by the end of 2024.

To assist suppliers in responding to the latest EU audits, SGS recommends immediately assessing whether their products comply with EU regulations. SGS has also compiled relevant regulations and specifications for perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and related substances under EU REACH and EU POPs regulations for suppliers to use as a reference.
