REACH-IT system is open 24 hours a day, two weeks before the registration deadline

  • 2011-02-08

On November 8, 2010, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) issued a statement on its website strongly recommending that lead registrants of relevant substances under the REACH Regulation submit their registration dossiers in the last two weeks before the November 30 registration deadline, so that other members of the Substances Exchange Forum would have sufficient time to submit their registration dossiers to ECHA. The report stated that the REACH-IT system would remain open for the next two weekends, meaning it would be open from 10:00 AM GMT 2 on November 15 until 12:00 AM (Eastern European Standard Time) on November 30. ECHA anticipated receiving more than 10,000 registration dossiers from now until the registration deadline.

Furthermore, ECHA strongly recommends that all registration applicants submit their registration dossiers by November 28th, allowing them time to revise any issues identified during ECHA's dossier review before the deadline. Recently, the number of ineligible registration dossiers has been rising, which ECHA attributes to registrants' unfamiliarity with the submission process. Therefore, ECHA has decided to hold a webinar on November 15th to assist businesses requiring registration. ECHA also announced that the REACH-IT system will be shut down for one day on December 1st for upgrades related to Article 58 of REACH, including classification, labeling, and packaging content.
