ECHA Classifies and Labels Four Pesticide Substances and One Fire Retardant Substance - Public Consultation

2013-03-08

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on May 14 regarding recommendations for the classification and labelling of five substances (CLH), with a 45-day period ending on June 28, 2012.

The EHCA Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) will seriously consider the comments collected and make a final assessment, which will make a decision on whether to accept the uniform classification and labeling of these five substances with reference to the views of the RAC;

The five substances are as follows:

Substance name	EC number	CAS number	Application examples
Isoxaflutole	–	141112-29-0	Plant protectants, herbicides for crops or grains
Tembotrione	–	335104-84-2	Herbicides for controlling weeds and broadleaf forest weeds
Metosulam	–	139528-85-1	Herbicides for tomatoes, wheat, apples, pears, and peaches
Potassium sorbate	246-376-1	24634-61-5	–
Tetrakis(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-m-phenylene biphosphate	432-770-2	139189-30-3	Fire-retardant material commonly used in circuit boards of products such as mobile phones, computers, televisions, and video recorders.
