GRI and CDP collaborate on a streamlined sustainability report that reveals burdens.

  • 2015-09-29

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) jointly released "Linking GRI and CDP: Climate Change 2015," which analyzes the content of the GRI G4 report guidelines and the 2015 CDP climate change questionnaire, clearly identifying the same parts. This means that companies no longer need to disclose overlapping information from the GRI report and the CDP questionnaire.

The two organizations stated that thousands of companies worldwide currently prepare corporate social responsibility reports annually based on GRI guidelines, and also complete CDP climate change and supply chain questionnaires at the request of stakeholders. This joint guideline will significantly reduce the burden on companies in preparing reports.

The "GRI and CDP 2015 Joint Guidelines on Climate Change" provides companies with guidance on how to integrate the GRI and CDP frameworks and how to respond to information disclosure requirements in reports and questionnaires. Companies can utilize overlapping information provided by the GRI or CDP in part in their sustainability reports for the G4 indicators or in responding to CDP climate change-related questions.

This year, GRI and CDP will join forces again, focusing on joint information disclosure guidelines related to produced water resources. These guidelines are expected to help companies streamline the information disclosure sections and questionnaires related to water resources in GRI G4 sustainability reports and CDP reports.

Please see the attached document for the "GRI and CDP 2015 Joint Guidelines on Climate Change": GRI-G4-CDP-2015-Climate-Change-Linkage-Document (English).
