REACH-SVHC Candidate List Expands to 211 Items

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) released the 24th batch of two SVHC recommended list substances on its official website on September 1, 2020. The following two substances were officially included in the SVHC candidate list on January 19, 2021, and the number of items on the SVHC candidate list has increased to 211.

In accordance with Article 33 of REACH Regulation (EU) 1907/2006 and Article 9 of Waste Framework Directive (EU) 2018/851, ECHA established the "SCIP Database" in 2020. From January 5, 2021 (inclusive), if your product contains a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) in the finished product at a level greater than 0.1% (w/w), the European duty holder will be required to submit a SCIP Article Notification and upload an i6z file to the SCIP Database.

SGS's professional team will continue to share and update information on international hazardous substance regulations to help your company's products comply with local regulations, ensure product safety, and reduce unnecessary trade losses. We also remind product manufacturers to collect and update relevant information in a timely manner, and to determine whether their products contain SVHC substances through testing and notify customers if any are present.

Note: SVHC stands for Substances of Very High Concern in English and Substances of Very High Concern in Chinese.
