The approved materials are as follows: \u2013 Iron (O) modified bentonite and iron (O) modified kaolinite, as oxygen absorbers from the food environment. \u2013 2,2,4,4-Tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutane-diol, as a comonomer used in the production of polyesters. The panel concluded that the substances are safe for contact with non-fatty foods when the diol concentration is at least 35 mol% and the materials are stored at room temperature or below for extended periods. \u2013 When used as a plasticizer, polyglycerol is safe to come into contact with any food (for any duration) as long as it does not exceed 6.5% by weight in aliphatic-aromatic polyesters.
