APEC: Tariffs on green goods to be reduced to below 5% by 2015

The APEC Leaders' Summit communiqué, issued on the 14th in Honolulu, Hawaii (Taipei time), announced that member economies agreed to develop an APEC environmental goods list in 2012 that positively contributes to green growth and sustainable development, taking into account the economic conditions of each member economy, without affecting the organization's position. Furthermore, tariffs on all green goods will be reduced to below 5% (inclusive) by the end of 2015.

In addition, the goal is to reduce the total energy intensity of the APEC region to 45% by 2035, and the statement also indicated that it will reduce non-tariff trade barriers related to trade in green goods.
